OPITO Approved - Rigger Competence Reassessment (Stage 4)

Course Description

The target group for Rigger Competence Reassessment are personnel that wish to renew their OPITO Rigger Competence or Rigger Competence Reassessment certificate.

N.B. No training is provided in the assessment. Candidates who feel they require additional training should contact us to discuss your options.

What certificate will i receive?

Upon successful completion of the course learners will be awarded with a OPITO Approved Certificate, valid for 2 years.

Certificates can be verified through our website or through the OPITO Vantage System and TRAIN-R App.

What is the duration of the course?

The optimum ‘contact time’ for this training programme is seen as 16 hours over 2 days.

Optimum contact time is based on the maximum number of learners attending.

What are the entry requirements?

Candidates must possess a valid OPITO-approved Rigger Competence or Rigger Competence Reassessment Certificate.

Medical Requirements

Training contains physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such training must be medically fit and capable of participating fully.

Delegates must either:

a. Possess an employing company approved medical certificate equivalent to an offshore medical certificate; or

b. Undergo medical screening by completing an appropriate medical screening form provided by GSS.

What does the course cover?

The aim and objectives of the OPITO Rigger Competence Reassessment are to establish that the learner has maintained the competence requirements for the Rigger role.

How is the course assessed?

Theory Assessment

Candidates will be required to undertake a written knowledge assessment test.

The knowledge assessment is a ‘closed book’ format. Candidates must achieve a pass mark of 80% or higher of the criteria to successfully complete the knowledge assessment.

Practical Assessment

Each candidate will be expected to lead two lifting operations and assist with two lifting operations. Each lifting operation should be of approximately one and a half hours duration and include rigging activities.

The successful candidate i.e. the candidate that fully meets the knowledge and practical assessment / reassessment standard will then be deemed competent to undertake Rigger operations in the workplace.
